Unter der Projektleitung von SCRIPT und SNJ wird seit dem Schuljahr 1999/2000 das Projekt „Peer Mediation im Schulalltag“ in den Luxemburger Sekundarschulen durchgeführt. Bis jetzt wurden 1.168 Schülerinnen und Schüler alsMediator/-in ausgebildet. Die Teilnehmer haben gelernt, ihren Mitschülern im Falle eines Konfliktes bei der Suche nach einer friedlichen Lösung zu helfen. Am 6. Oktober haben 152 weitere Schülerinnen und Schüler aus Lyzeen und 12 Schüler aus einer Grundschule ihr Zertifikat erhalten, das sie als Peer Mediator/-innen qualifiziert.
Die Feier, die dieses Jahr in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Lycée Nic Biever in Dudelange organisiert wurde, fand in Anwesenheit des Ministers für Bildung, Kinder und Jugend, Claude Meisch statt.

Forscher untersuchen, wie Kinder Tablets nutzen können, um Wissenschaften zu lernen. Verändert dies die Rolle des Lehrers? Was sind Herausforderungen?

Das Forschungsprojekt sciPADS der Uni Luxemburg (2012-2015) untersucht den Einsatz mobiler und cloud-basierter Informationstechnologien im naturwissenschaftlichen Unterricht der „école fondamentale“ (Grundschule bzw. der Sekundarstufe 1).

SophosLabs maintains a large network of spamtraps, operated around the world with the express purpose of collecting spam.

And, boy, do they collect spam!

Of course, whenever spam falls into a trap, we can tell where the final step of its journey started by looking at the IP address of the computer from which the offending email was sent.

It's possible to track back individual IP numbers fairly accurately, sometimes down to a street block, often to a suburb or metro area, and almost always to the sender's country.

In other words, our spamtraps tell us which countries are the worst senders of spam.

What is a smart city?

A smart city is as an urban area where sensors have been implemented across public infrastructure in order to monitor traffic and usage of public services, such as lighting and parking spaces.

The contextual analysis of the real-time information gained from the sensors can help governments and companies in many sectors to make cities more sustainable and efficient, as well as being better able to cater to the needs of citizens living in the smart city.

The more you can apply what you’re learning to your every day, the more it’ll stick in your head. The reason is simple. When you’re learning by doing, you’re implementing everything that makes our memory work. When you’re able to connect what you’re learning with a real world task, that forms the bonds in your brain, and subsequently the skills you’re learning will stick around.

We learn best when we have context, and that applies to new skills as much as it does random facts in school.
