Creative Kaos Premiere Screening

Creative Kaos Premiere Screening | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Creative Koas, the documentary about the making of Kurse a di Xtabai, was shown Friday night at the Soul Project.  The directors of both movies, Daniel Velazquez and Matthiew Klink, were there to answer questions from all the film students from New Mexico State University, who are in Cayo doing their own documentaries.  Creative Kaos was as great as its name implies.

Kurse of the Xtabai On Tour

Reef TV caught up with a multitude of people that caught the showing of Cayo's Kurse a di Xtabai at the Paradise Theater on Ambergris Caye.  Not only did everyone have rave reviews, but he interviewed Matthew Klinck, and it looks like Make-Belize Films will be doing quite a few more movies, and they'll be getting attention all over.

"2012: Kurse a di Xtabai is a Creole-language supernatural thriller and the first feature length dramatic movie to be entirely produced in Belize.  It was directed and produced by Matthiew Klinck and selected as the opening night movie of the 2012 Belize International Film Festival."

Kurse a di Xtabai at Belize Film Festival

Kurse a di Xtabai at Belize Film Festival | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Kurse a di Xtabai will be premiering on July 13th at the Belize Film Festival.  We had the opportunity to see Matthew Klink's thriller last night, and it's a winner.  Funny, scary, and witty - the 'Hollywood' quote is hilarious - it's bound to score Make Belize Films the 1st place.  They've decided to move the BFF back to the city, so we'll just say, "good luck with that, and better luck next year."

The movie project that has been shooting around Cayo the last week did some shooting at Sacred Heart.  They used many SHJC students as extras.  The project, currently entitled '2012 The Belize Witch Project' will be submitted to the Belize Film Festival.  Matthew Klinck and Daniel Velazquez are at the helm.  Looks like there was some fun going on behind the scenes.  Llarona looks scary!

Kurse a di Xtabai Movie Review

Kurse a di Xtabai Movie Review | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Kurse a di Xtabai, the movie made in Cayo earlier this year, is making its second round through Belize.  Here's the San Pedro Sun's review from when it was shown at the Paradise Theater on Ambergris Caye.  Matthew Klinck and Make-Belize Films are gearing up to shoot the next movie, 'Rice and Beans,' next month.

"Put simply, the movie featured first-time actors, so the acting could certainly use a bit of polish.  But still, for the first time ever in front of the camera, the young men and women certainly did well.  The soundtrack was beautiful, featuring the Garifuna drums and melodies, Maya sounds by Pablo Collado and more.  The setting, of course, was a great one – not that I’m biased or anything."

Kurse a di Xtabai, which was filmed in Cayo by Make-Belize Films, is getting mentioned quite a bit in articles about this year's Belize Film Festival.

"For the very first time, the festival was opened by a feature length Belizean made film titled “2012: Kurse A Di Xtabai” produced by Make-Belize Films.  Directed by Canadian Matthiew Klinck, the movie showcases an all Belizean cast starring Nehanda Higinio, Jim Arnold, and Robert Grieg and was filmed entirely on location in Belize and in Belize Creole."
