Rose the Croc's Habitat Opening on Earth Day

Rose the Croc's Habitat Opening on Earth Day | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

The Belize Zoo is planning a bash for Earth Day, and they'll open Rose the Croc's new habitat. Rose is all grown up, and now has a place all her own. It'll happen on Saturday the 22nd.

'Rose the Crocodile's new habitat is almost complete, and we're thrilled to announce it will be open to the public next Saturday April 22nd on Earth Day!
As we begin the countdown, we invite those who have had the honour of meeting Rose in her formative years, and have photos of these once in a lifetime encounters, to share them with us to be included in a special collage that will be displayed at her new home. Email your photos to education@belizezoo.org, and come and join us next Saturday at the Zoo!'

Eco Kids Learn About Belizean Wildlife

Eco Kids Learn About Belizean Wildlife | Cayo Scoop! The Ecology of Cayo Culture | Scoop.it

Members from the Belize Zoo, human and animal, visited the Eco Kids.

"Today’s visitor was none other than MIss Sharon Matola and Jamal from the Belize Zoo, along with their friends Happy the Owl, Balboa the Boa and Rose the Crocodile.  Kids spent a hour and a half learnign about these amazing animals, and even got to get up close and personal with them.  As they learnt, Happy likes to be stroked on the nose, Rose likes to be pet on the back, and Balboa likes to be tickled under the chin. Some of the campers were a little frightened to touch Balboa the Boa, but as soon as they saw how friendly he was, they were crowding around to say hi."
