donhornsby's curator insight, December 30, 2014 8:47 AM

(From the article): HOW you say things matters. Go EASY and be FUN. If you are a control freak get someone else to write important pieces of your brand defining content such as: * About Page. * Ambassador Program Call To Action and Explanation page. * Terms (never let lawyers write this critical content). You might think the lawyers thing is strange, but if you let legal speak go on your site you are DEAD and much more DEAD than if you get sued. You are dead because no tribe will form. Without a tribe the web's natural and regular costs are unrecoverable. You MUST create online community or be eaten by the inevitable costs of creating and maintaining a website. You must curate to crate a tribe.

SurveyReviews Cool New Must Steal Social Media Idea via @CourtyardHotels

SurveyReviews Cool New Must Steal Social Media Idea via @CourtyardHotels | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

Steal This Survey To Post Idea
Had a great stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Charlotte during the Search Exchange conference. I NEVER fill out surveys since who has the time, but the service was so good I wanted to share that information with Marriott.

I broke my rule and completed a survey that was at least 2 pages too long. Started out looking all Net Promoter and then just went on too long. Glad I hung with it because if I'd bailed I wouldn't have seen one of the coolest ideas - use surveys to create web reviews.

The last page asked me to write a review TO GO TO THE COURTYARD WEBSITE. Now that is BRILLIANT. Bet they are smart enough to create a new webpage with the 100 words I just shared too adding to page spread and aggregating reviews on their property.

Why am I so confident Courtyard is that good? Look at their 7,000 follows on 43K following number (15%). IMPRESSIVE. Most big brands think social is about THEM talking to you. That's why I created Social Its About the Conversation Stupid on Haiku Deck (http://shar.es/LhQP2 ).

Don't have to teach Courtyard by Marriott to listen. They are and the experience in their hotel was pretty amazing as a result. Now all they need is our startup Curagami (http://www.curagami.com ) to take their community to the next level of excellence in listening :). M

Why Internet Marketing Is Like Goldilocks & 3 Bears

Why Internet Marketing Is Like Goldilocks & 3 Bears | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it
Secret To Internet Marketing
Stumbled over something important last week. You know how that happens. Your are doing something very unimportant and whamo…
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

Here is the Internet marketing secret that I stumbled on last week:

The key to making money online is doing some things to create trust and then disrupting those very things enough to create money.

I wrote about that secret on Atlantic BT's Blog
http://www.atlanticbt.com/blog/internet-marketings-strange-money-making-secret/

Over the weekend, just to prove I have NO LIFE, I wanted to map the path to the asynchronous thinking it takes to create just the right amount of disruption, so I created a @HaikuDeck

Haiku Deck is the best visual mapping tool I know. here is link to Think Asynch:
http://www.haikudeck.com/p/m0XgKjrK5b/asynchronous-thinking

Internet marketing and content marketing is like Goldilocks because the paper-thin line between "just right" and having 3 bears want to ear your website for dinner is razor then. These slides share how to THINK ASYNCH.

There is a new invisible giant using 5 "tricks" so the "new seo" is getting harder and harder to see and understand. This Haiku Deck and Curatti blog post is about how to see the invisible giant. How to win hearts and minds online.

malek's curator insight, August 5, 2014 7:37 AM

Thought provoking on many fronts. The notion of need of predictive models (and other tools) to link content with visitors.

donhornsby's curator insight, August 5, 2014 8:02 AM

(From the article): Content Marketing is a tricky idea. You need to create authoritative content, but just enough that community is forming comfortably. Talk to much, in the wrong voice or at the wrong time sand you kill your fledgling community (easy to do).

New Social Media War Room: It's The Conversation, Stupid via @HaikuDeck

New Social Media War Room: It's The Conversation, Stupid via @HaikuDeck | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

Social Media It's The Conversation, Stupid is about the new rules of branding being created by a social world. If the old War Room during the Clinton presidential campaign's motto was, "It's the ECONOMY Stupid" then the new Social Media War Room's motto is, "Social Media: It's The Conversation Stupid".

As we "talk amongst ourselves" more and more we become increasingly platform agnostic. The conversation is the brand. The conversation is the currency and THAT is a huge shift. A shift creating openings for "clean slate" brands to step in and call "trusted brands" old, stale and not relevant.

Want to appear "not relevant" use social media to PUSH, don't listen or respond and never curate or attribute kudos to followers. This new Haiku Deck discusses the new rules of branding in a social world.

What "new rules of branding" did we miss? Share your experience, thoughts and ideas and we will curate into the deck.

"Asynchronous Thinking" - A Haiku Deck by Martin Smith

"Asynchronous Thinking" - A Haiku Deck by Martin Smith | Curation Revolution | Scoop.it

Discovered the strange secret of Internet marketing last week. We lucky few Internet marketers must do some things BECAUSE everyone is doing them. We violate these "conventions" at our risk, but we can't stop there.

We can't stop with mere emulation of current convention because there is no money to be made there. Our Internet marketing must win hearts, minds, love and advocacy to become increasingly valuable. We can't win brand advocates by copying others.

We must take the risk of passionate disruption. Disruption in Internet marketing is a tricky business. Too little disruption and your Internet marketing is conventional and boring. Too much disruption and your Internet marketing is speaking to itself about itself.

Testing is the best way to find the thin and ever-changing line between conventional boring and just the right amount of loyalty creating disruption. This @HaikuDeck is about how and why your Internet marketing must "think" asynchronously. Why you must disrupt to win.
