Supports an iPad book called "It's Okay to be Different" (via Story Panda). Beautiful but simple message.

Grace Hamilton's curator insight, April 14, 2014 12:57 PM

This is the best anti-bullying poster I think I've ever come across. The visual would be perfect in an elementary classroom, and the poster covers all areas from glasses to adoption to stuttering. Let's celebrate our differences!

"Wear your heart on your sleeve" and "Fight fire with fire" are part of my favourite ones  :-)

Why not have your student choose theirs and then write a short paragraph to illustrate them ? Might either help build up a lesson plan or merely get you to... break the ice ;-)

The ghost of grammar past is swirling around me as two related articles/posts have recently crossed by path.

This  infographic (which I believe was crated by Best Infographics and also found at  http://www.onlinecollege.org/2013/02/12/does-texting-hurt-your-grammar/ and also found at http://visual.ly/does-texting-hurt-your-grammar) relates that "Children are more likely to remember these new texting rules and abbreviations than old school rules such as “i before e except after c” or other grammar rules."

Via Beth Dichter, Kelly Blair
Beth Dichter's curator insight, July 10, 2014 9:12 PM

Sea levels are rising and recent research tells us the impact will happen more quickly than originally stated. This infographic shares information on how the sea level has risen over the last 140 years and how much it is predicted to rise by the end of the century. It also shares information on the two main reasons this is taking place. This infographic would be appropriate to share with students studying climate change/global warming.

A brainfriendly resource. Creating an imaginary situation to contextualize the idiom, recording it with a script would make this resource really brainfriendly. One or several sentences examples are necessary to show how the  idioms  are used .
