Body Talk addresses issues of feminism, sexuality and the body, as they play themselves out in the work of a generation of women artists from Africa active since the early 1990s.
Bringing together artists from different parts of the continent, this group exhibition strives to define and articulate notions of feminism and sexuality in the work of women artists whose body (their own or that of others) serves as a tool, a representation or a field of investigation. In their work, the body manifests itself, whether sequentially or simultaneously, as a model, support, subject or object.

She has superhuman strength, her wounds heal instantly and her collection of weaponry includes the Lasso of Truth and a razor-sharp tiara to throw at her enemies. Who wouldn't like to be Wonder Woman, at least occasionally? Okay, the bustier, tight blue panties, and high-heeled boots might be a little uncomfortable, but her contradictory qualities - part super hero, part pinup girl - have mesmerized us since she came on the scene in 1941.
No wonder the enduring pop culture icon makes a great focal point for a group exhibition at the University of Minnesota's Katherine E. Nash Gallery entitled "WonderWomen." Co-sponsored by the University of Minnesota, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and the Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul, the show features work by women artists from around the world who are inspired or influenced by comics, animation or popular culture. During this period of the late twentieth century, photography helped feminism and feminism helped photography. On the one hand, feminists used the highly informative and accessible medium of photography to raise awareness of critical social issues. On the other hand, photographic artists embraced feminist themes as a way of making their practice less esoteric and more engaged with contemporary life. This productive exchange between feminism and photography fostered a range of technical innovations and critical frameworks that radically transformed the direction of visual culture in Australia.

India is a country crazy about movies, the Indian film industry produces the largest number of movies in the world in a dozen languages. Poster making for these movies is also a high tech industry using latest printing technologies and international standard design practices. But in some pockets there thrives an industry where low quality hand drawn posters are printed using ancient lithograph press on cheap paper. While most of the old single screen theatres have closed down due to competition from multiplexes, some old theaters do survive which cater to people from lower income groups. These posters which cost only a few cents a piece are ordered by old single screen theaters and are pasted illegally on walls throughout the cities. These posters are made by Bangalore based Ramchandraiah who has been creating posters since 1971. He draws a poster every 3 hour and reproduces them on a second hand 114 year old British made lithograph machine.
