Making animated movies is one of my favorite video creation projects for elementary school students. Students love hearing their voices bringing to life an animated character on the screen. You can have students create animations to tell stories from their own lives or to animate short stories that they have written in your classroom. The following three free iPad apps enable elementary school students to create talking animated movies.

One of the best things about audiobooks is that you can take them with you wherever you go. At your desk, in the kitchen, on the road, on a run — there’s nowhere that you can’t be listening to a work of fiction. However, the places where you do most of your listening (and which devices you use to listen to audiobooks) can change which audiobook apps you should be using on a daily basis. We have found six of the best audiobook apps available right now, all of which offer something different. Your job is to work out which audiobook app is right for you.

Chances are if you’re a teacher that you’ve considered how to continue to engage students once classes are over for the day, or even the year. Thankfully, Dave Saltmarsh from eSchool News has recently come up with a terrific list of apps that are designed to engage students during “rainy days, road trips or any time in between.” Check out the links he has compiled below.

"Teaching in a digital world, while essential, can be a difficult task. The digital world is constantly evolving, and it can be hard to keep up with new trends. And while students often enter the classroom with a high degree of digital awareness, it is often confined to the world of social media. How then, do educators learn about digital literacy, so they can model and teach it to their students? ..." The best writing apps for iPad, like any concept of ‘best,’ is subjective and further based on need and circumstance. Are you a poet drafting when inspiration strikes? A student taking notes and writing essays? A novelist that usually uses a desktop, but needs their new iPad Pro to do work on the go? While the idea of writing more than a few hundred words on an iPad may seem crazy, using the iPad as a powerful portable writing tool allows you to take advantage of inspiration whenever and wherever it strikes. And with iPad screens now approaching 13″ and capable of supporting USB connections to enable standalone keyboards, it’s easier and more comfortable than ever to draft a masterpiece while away from your desk with the help of an app, an iPad, and a good idea.
