Shadow Puppet: Digital Storytelling for iOS Devices

Shadow Puppet: Digital Storytelling for iOS Devices | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

review by Michael Karlin...rated Outstanding

And that's the app!  Yes, it's incredibly simple, but I think that's perfect for this application because it can be used at all ages without much difficulty.  It takes less than 30 seconds to figure out how the application works and it can be integrated in a huge variety of subjects.

Students can narrate their understanding of virtually any topic and then share those narrations with the class or the teacher.  It's an excellent, easy way to get students talking and sharing what they understand about a particular idea.

My only suggestion would be for them to include a drawing tool (sort of like VoiceThread offers) so that students could add lines or shapes to the images as well.

Other than that, I love the simplicity, I think it's an excellent app for the classroom, it could be used in all subjects and grade levels, and to top it all off, it's completely free!

It is an easy tool to help students create quick digital stories or informational videos to illustrate concepts and topics.

6 Apps You Should Be Using with Evernote

6 Apps You Should Be Using with Evernote | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

By Med Kharbach

Mashable calls it a second brain, Evernote is a powerful productivity app that, I believe, every teacher should be using. I know you probably have heard and read a lot about it but that elephant logo is still sitting there lonely and unused. It is about time to tap into to and discover its marvels.

Evernote is definitely one of the apps I use everyday. It helps me stay organized and scales up my productivity. However, the app has even more to offer when used with other partner apps. These apps  are particularly useful in expanding Evernote functionality  and in providing you with a richer and organized experience.

Here is a round-up of the apps I curated for you and which you can use with your Evernote to tap into its education potential.

I really want to see the benifit of Evernote but I just don't. I think I need someone to sit down and talk me through it. Is it better on the web or as an app?
Jonathan Jarc's comment, June 3, 2013 4:07 PM
I use it almost exclusively as an app, and as a supplement to flashcards for my students. I also know some folks who use it to manage their budget and expenses, snapping photos of receipts, bills, etc...

15 iPad Skills Every Teacher and Student should Have - Apps linked to your learning goals

15 iPad Skills Every Teacher and Student should Have - Apps linked to your learning goals | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

By Med Kharbach

"iPad has made such a radical change in education with more and more school districts  adopting it as a learning tool inside the classroom. Educational Technology and Mobile Learning  has been helping teachers all along the way with reviews and tutorials on how to get started using iPad in education. We have reviewed more than 500 apps and we are planning to do more reviews this year.

"Having accumulated a modest experience in dealing with educational iPad apps, we deem it important that we share with you some of the learning goals you should keep in mind when using iPad with your students. We have particularly associated sets of educational iPad apps with each learning goal to make it easier for you to achieve the targeted goal.

"Check the learning goals below and share with us your feedback. Enjoy"
