Managing an iPad’s Battery Use - NYTimes | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it
Q. Is Apple also slowing down older iPads? If so, will it replace batteries at a reduced rate?

A. In response to accusations that it intentionally hindered older products, Apple’s public explanation and apology says that only certain iPhone models were affected by the software updates designed to prevent the battery from conking out unexpectedly. In fact, Apple’s mea culpa states, “This power management feature is specific to iPhone and does not apply to any other Apple products.”

Create Engaging Green Screen Video Projects

Create Engaging Green Screen Video Projects | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it
One of the most imaginative class projects I’ve consulted on was a 4th grade project about California Missions. Each year, students were required to submit written reports about the history and significance of the religious outposts. From all reports, it wasn’t exactly the most electrifying week of the year. After much discussion, we decided to throw tradition out the window and take a very different approach. This time, we asked students to demonstrate their understanding by creating video guides to the mission with the aid of some magical green screen technology.

Vimodi - visual discussion app

Vimodi - visual discussion app | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

Vimodi has a unique nonlinear viewer and was designed so that content conforms to the discussion - and not the other way around. Its distinctive feature is that it lets you discuss content non-linearly rather than the linear format of PowerPoint or KeyNote. Perfect for business meetings, sales meetings or teaching where you want to keep the discussion open yet know in advance what the key areas for discussion should be.

Shadow Puppet: Digital Storytelling for iOS Devices

Shadow Puppet: Digital Storytelling for iOS Devices | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

review by Michael Karlin...rated Outstanding

And that's the app!  Yes, it's incredibly simple, but I think that's perfect for this application because it can be used at all ages without much difficulty.  It takes less than 30 seconds to figure out how the application works and it can be integrated in a huge variety of subjects.

Students can narrate their understanding of virtually any topic and then share those narrations with the class or the teacher.  It's an excellent, easy way to get students talking and sharing what they understand about a particular idea.

My only suggestion would be for them to include a drawing tool (sort of like VoiceThread offers) so that students could add lines or shapes to the images as well.

Other than that, I love the simplicity, I think it's an excellent app for the classroom, it could be used in all subjects and grade levels, and to top it all off, it's completely free!
