Sometimes we receive worksheets in PDF from our daughter's teachers for her to work on. Our printer doesn’t work very well, and I know some of the families don't have a printer at home, so in order to make the PDF editable for her and her classmates to complete using a computer, I use Google Slides..

Effective Teacher Professional Development | #pdf | #ModernEDU #Coaching #Mentoring

Effective Teacher Professional Development | #pdf | #ModernEDU #Coaching #Mentoring | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

Teacher professional learning is of increasing interest as one way to support the increasingly complex skills students need to learn in preparation for further education and work in the 21st century. Sophisticated forms of teaching are needed to develop student competencies such as deep mastery of challenging content, critical thinking, complex problem-solving,

effective communication and collaboration, and self-direction. In turn, effective professional development (PD) is needed to help teachers learn and refine the pedagogies required to teach these skills. However, research has shown that many PD initiatives appear ineffective in supporting changes in teacher practices and student learning. Accordingly, we set out to discover the features of effective PD.

This paper reviews 35 methodologically rigorous studies that have demonstrated a positive link between teacher professional development, teaching practices, and student outcomes. We identify the features of these approaches and offer rich  descriptions of these models to inform those seeking to understand the nature of the initiatives.

"Active Textbook is an interesting service that you can use to turn your PDFs into multimedia documents. The basic idea behind the service is that you can upload PDFs and add pictures, links, and videos that are displayed when students read your PDF through the Active Textbook viewer. While reading your PDF through Active Textbook students can highlight, draw, and add comments to the document."

Add Voice-Over and 20-Language Translation Instantly To Any Presentation You Have: HelloSlide

Add Voice-Over and 20-Language Translation Instantly To Any Presentation You Have: HelloSlide | Into the Driver's Seat | Scoop.it

Robin Good: HelloSlide is a web-based service which allows anyone to upload a PDF (max 100MB) and add a voice-over track to it by simply adding a text copy of what needs to be said on each slide.

HelloSlide does the rest by generating a good quality voice over by utilizing synthsized digital voices that automatically read your script slide after slide.

Not only. By leveraging this type of approach HelloSlide can make your presentation available in over 20 languages instantly and by providing a full text transcript with the presentation there may be also some SEO benefits, as search engines can tell now precisely what you are talking about in those slides.

The free plan allows about to 50 presentations.

The Pro account which costs $9/mo allows up to 200 presentations, an export-to-video function as well as the ability to auto-translate to other languages. The Premium at $39 extends the numbers of presentations, auto-translations and throws in 10 human-voiced translations per month.
