The Future of Manufacturing

The Future of Manufacturing | Future of Manufacturing - Industry 4.0 | Scoop.it

Factories based on robotics, AI, Machine Vision and Digital Twins are the future of manufacturing flexibility. OPEX-oriented offerings, supply chain innovation, and cellular upgrades are required to reach Industry 5.0.

Joe Boutte's insight:

4 key industry challenges where the impact of personalization is likely to be felt:

  1. Manufacturers will shy away from CAPEX intensive purchasing and demand business models from machine builders based on productivity or output
  2. Supply Chain and Logistics operations will be stretched well beyond current cost pressures by Batch Size 1 production.
  3. The need for OPEX-oriented business models will create pressure around customization and remote maintenance, and drive Digital Twin adoption around higher cost industrial equipment.
  4. OEMs will shift to XaaS to counteract the unintended consequences of ever-increasing product reliability and quality.
