Surprising Findings on Social Media Usage

Surprising Findings on Social Media Usage | KILUVU | Scoop.it

I selected this article from Curatti written by Raymond Morin because it explains the latest results by Nielsen on the habits of social media users.

The biggest audience on social media is not millennials after all.

The Changing Landscape in Marketing Online

People between the ages of 35 and 50 spend the most amount of time on social networks. I agree that this reveals the younger generation prefer to spend their time on mobile devices.

Morin explains the details of the study and explains how brands need to respect the values of their community with genuine interactions on social media.

Here's what caught my attention:

  • The use of social media differs according to the type of platform that is used. For example, on Facebook 178.8 million users log on with their smart phone in the U.S.

  • Depending on the nature of the social network, the nature of the users also changes. They will interact in different ways with brands.

  • Generations also have differences. Millenials are most likely to follow a business to gather information about them and to be entertained. Gen X'rs tend to follow for promotions, and Baby Boomers follow for promotions and information.

Want to be a superstar, but no time for social media? Fake it with Ghost Tweeter

Want to be a superstar, but no time for social media? Fake it with Ghost Tweeter | KILUVU | Scoop.it

"What if I told you that you could become an industry “thought leader” without ever writing a blog post. Or, that you could achieve Twitter stardom without personally sending a single tweet.I didn’t believe it either, but some people are apparently doing it. Maybe even some people you follow. And you may never guess how they’re doing it.

Ghost Tweeting is one of a number of companies that have emerged to outsource the writing and distribution of all your blogs, tweets, and posts. They will even handle all the social media engagement for you. “All the benefits, none of the work,” reads the tagline on their website....

Thanks for your comment Malek. I think the days of "ghost" writing on social media are limited without open and honest disclosure and transparency. Nothing wrong with teams tweeting but many, including high profile personalities, authors, politicians and many others will resist. When the you know what hits the fan, that's when the trouble starts. Of course, when the intern screws up, you can always claim you were hacked LOL.

We first had fake accounts, then fake fans and now...? if there's a will, there's always a shortcut.......!!

As others have noted, this approach is not only not authentic, it's borderline unethical. But how does it really differ from hiring consultants to design and write marketing material for your business?

What do you think of this technique? Comment below.

I selected this article from Curatti written by Vaibhav Kakkar because it provides insight into how to find great content with Reddit.

Use Reddit to find topics your audience will love.

How Reddit Can Help You Find Better Content

You can gather useful ideas from your readers through this long-standing network. I agree that Reddit is an invaluable resource for bloggers and marketers.

Kakkar shows how to effectively use this platform for your content strategy.

Here's what caught my attention:

  • There are over 11,000 communities based around niche topics on Reddit. This is a treasure trove of content ideas to tap into.

  • Keep up with the latest trends and pop culture threads. Posts have the potential for becoming viral on the Internet.

  • One of the biggest problems content producers face is not producing articles their audience desires. Reddit helps you discover what matters to them the most.
