Luxembourgish Crémants Bring Home 21 Gold Medals | #Luxembourg #Quality #MadeInLuxembourg | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it

Luxembourgish crémants have won a total of 21 gold medals at the National Crémant Competition of France and Luxembourg which was held in southeast France on Friday 24 May 2019.

The awards ceremony of the 28th edition of the National Crémant Competition of France and Luxembourg took place last Friday in Die in the Drôme department of France.

The Luxembourg Moselle is the only wine region with the right to present its samples to this competition, in addition to the regions of Alsace, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Limoux, Loire, Die, Jura and Savoie. Once again, Luxembourg winegrowers have shown that their products should no longer hide behind the competition. At more than 40 tables, the crémants were tasted blindly by different representatives of the wine regions in four sub-categories (Blanc Brut, Blanc Brut Millésimé, Rosé Brut, Blanc de Noirs Brut). The tasters of the Luxembourg crémants appreciated the approximately 80 samples presented.

In all, Luxembourg's crémants managed to attract 21 gold and 6 silver medals from the Moselle. The Luxembourg delegation, made up of representatives of the Domaines Vinsmoselle cooperative, private winegrowers, trade, the press and the wine institute, was delighted with the results of the award ceremony.

Six Wine Cities on the Rise | #Luxembourg #Europe

Six Wine Cities on the Rise | #Luxembourg #Europe | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it

Luxembourg

While it’s technically a country, Luxembourg’s population of around 600,000 makes it smaller than many cities. But what makes this landlocked landscape thrilling is the excellent wine it produces, something few outsiders know. A swath of the tiny country occupies the end of the Moselle Valley, made famous for Riesling from its neighbor, Germany. It’s an important commercial attraction and a key experience for visitors. The Moselle Valley’s steep hillside vineyards and wide, meandering river inspire awe. Grapes grown include Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. The country’s sparkling wine has gained popularity with bubbles like Luxembourg Crémant now integral to production.

There’s much to taste at surrounding wineries and nibble on in country taverns, but devote time to the capital, Luxembourg City, for more fine wine and food. From outdoor cafés and bistros to 12 Michelin-starred restaurants, most spots offer a selection of local and regional wines. La Rameaudière and Am Tiirmschen are two to find. The old city was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 for its elegant architecture and historic monuments. The trendy area of Les Rives de Clausen is a popular draw for locals and visitors for its lively ambiance.

The 2018 Hachette Guide gives awards to the best Luxembourgish wines.
The new edition of the famous Hachette guide awarded four "coup de cœur" (best picks) prizes to Luxembourg winemakers.

21-11-2017

Every year, the Hachette Wine Guide presents its ranking of wines selected in France, Switzerland and the Grand Duchy. And the result of national winemakers doesn't need to shy away -four cuvées won over the jury and had the honour of being awarded with the "coup de cœur" distinction.

And the winners are ...
The four coups de cœurs are awarded to:

Cep d’or Wine Estate (Hëttermillen); Crémant de Luxembourg, Cuvée 36, 2013 vintage
Krier-Bisenis Wine Estate (Bech-Kleinmacher) , Pinot gris 2016, Wellenstein Foulschette
Schumacher-Knepper Wine Estate (Wintrange), Pinot gris 2016, Wintrange Felsberg, Grand premier cru
Paul Legill Cellars (Schengen), Auxerrois 2016, old vines, Coteaux de Schengen, Grand premier cru
The wines that have been awarded three stars are:

Bastian Wine Estate (Remich, Pinot gris);
Clos des Rochers Wine Estate (Grevenmacher, Pinot gris);
St. Remy-Desom Cellars (Remich, Pinot gris);
Vinsmoselle Wine Estates (Stadtbredimus, Riesling);
Vinsmoselle Wine Estates (Remerschen, Pinot gris);
Vinsmoselle Wine Estates (Remerschen, Crémant de Luxembourg);
Paul Legill Wine Estates (Schengen, Crémant de Luxembourg);
Cep d’or Wine Estate (Hëttermillen, Crémant de Luxembourg);
Krier-Bisenis Wine Estate (Bech-Kleinmacher, Pinot gris);
Schumacher-Knepper Wine Estate (Wintrange, Pinot gris);
Among wines and sparkling wines, 9 have been awarded two stars, and six have been awarded one star.

Being listed in the Hachette Wine Guide is somewhat like winning an Oscar. Indeed, the French guide is THE reference for experts and amateurs of wines and sparkling wines. So it's obvious that the 2018 edition will spread further the fame enjoyed by Luxembourgish wines among winelovers everywhere.

Bofferding beer, Moselle wines, Ramborn cider Distributed in US

Bofferding beer, Moselle wines, Ramborn cider Distributed in US | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it

The National Brewery (Brasserie Nationale) last month signed a new collaboration agreement with Ansay International for the exclusive distribution of Luxembourg beet, wine and cider in the US.

For more than 10 years, Ansay International has represented exclusively the Bofferding beers of the Brasserie Nationale in the United States. In addition, Ansay Int. imports and distributes the wines of the Luxembourg Moselle, Ramborn ciders and Luxembourg mustard. These products are distributed in the North West, namely the states of Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio and the Chicago area.

Ansay International is a family business owned by the Ansay family in Port Washington, Wisconsin, where the Luxembourg tradition is still alive: every year, the inhabitants of this village celebrate Luxembourg Fest in August. The business is also active in the banking sector and currently manages one of the largest insurance portfolios in the region since 1946. Under the leadership of Mike Ansay and his daughter Kate, Ansay Int. has developed imports of products from Luxembourg companies.

Luxemburger Crémants räumen 17 Goldmedaillen ab | #Luxembourg #Beverages #Quality #MadeInLuxembourg #Europe | Luxembourg (Europe) | Scoop.it
