There is not one way to curate or define curation. That's why the practice evades so many people.

Joe Pulizzi, for example, believes that you should curate your own content instead of others'. And Tom Webster advises against a curation-centric attitude towards content marketing.
I think the most important lesson of all is that you have to do what works for you, your brand, and your audience. The way I curate is very different from what @Martin (Marty) Smith or @Brian Yanish - MarketingHits.com (to name a few excellent peers) do. But at the end of the day, our audiences stick to us because we care about delivering useful and educational info in a way that makes sense to them.

That’s the great thing about content curation, there’s not really a right or wrong way, it all depends on what you’re trying to achieve. How boring would the Internet be if we all did the same thing, wrote the same articles about the same stuff, and never shared each other’s talents.
For myself content curation is more about self education and trying to keep up with the topics I’m interested in and the ever-changing internet because that's what I do for a living and I just happen to share some of what I find. I also listen to every tedtalk on Ted.com lol. Some would call all this stuff useless information, I call it random education, which many of our schools are lacking.
I get asked do I read everything I share, the answer is no, I listen to a lot of it while I work using a great site and app calledhttp://soundgecko.com
To be honest, I probably read or listen to about 80% because sometimes all I’m interested in, is the article’s images and inspiration they bring.
