How To Talk About Your Biggest Weakness In A Job Interview - Forbes

How To Talk About Your Biggest Weakness In A Job Interview - Forbes | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
There's a good chance the hiring manager in your next job interview will ask that dreaded question: What’s your biggest weakness? Here are some tips for handling it.
Trish Sadar's insight:

Excellent advice and tips!

It is true that most people know about the "What is your weakness" interview question; however, it does seem funny that some people stumble and lose their ground when answering the question.

As the article says: "It’s not a trick question and there’s no “right” answer—but interviewers are looking for something specific in your response to this challenging query."

What is the purpose of the question?  Yes, it could be to check for resiliency; however, for me the goal is to do a temperature check on the candidate to see if they would be honest in sharing what they learned, and better yet what they are doing to develop their opportunity area.

For example an example response could be...."An area of opportunity that I identified this year is to strenghten my advanced knowledge of ____ software.  What I am doing to strenghten this area is

a,

b,

c, etc.

This shows that you have a development plan and are building those muscles!
