Trish Sadar's insight:

Please read this article!!!!!!

I can't tell you how many times I have been interrupted while I was talking by the candidate. Or how many times I have had to stop the interviewer from going on and on about a subject.

If this has happened to you...it may be that you are not watching the interviewer's body language or verbal cues.  It also could mean that your interview did not go so well?

If the interviewer is talking more than you are....that may be a good sign.  Let them talk.

Tell us about some of your stories.  Or please let me know if you have any questions I can answer.

Interview Styles Series – #2 Behavioural Interviews - Social-Hire

RT @Social_Hire: Thanks to Michelle Lopez for contributing these tips on succeeding in behavioural job interviews http://t.co/Tipi8QoWzu
Trish Sadar's insight:

In several of our postings we have discussed the different type of interview formats as well as the different type of interview questions.

Behavioral Interviews ask questions surrounding not what would you do; however, how you specifically handled various situations.  The questions are crafted with specific competencies in mind.

Our method for answering behavioral questions to keep you concise and to the point is by remembering CAR.

C - Describe the circumstances of the situation you were faced with

A - Describe the actions and the people who you involved

R - What was the result of the actions you took (here you want to mention how it impacted:  Revenues, Costs, Customer Service, Relationships, etc.)

Hope these articles help you...please let us know if there is something in specific you would like information on.  These blogs are for you, and we want to make sure that you are reading what is important to you.

Are you in the right frame of mind to Ace the Interview? | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
Go into every interview with the end-goal of receiving a job offer.
Trish Sadar's insight:

This article has nice tips to calibrate you for a positive mind-set!

Remember, when you are confident your body emulates positivity and the right dose of positivity.  Once you fully prepare for that interview, remind yourself what your goal is for that interview.  In other words...what does a successful interview look like?  How will I know that I have accomplished my goal?

Then do your best to be your best you and to connect and really listen to the interviewer.

If you walk out of the interview doing your best, and accomplishing your goal -- everything else is outside of your control right?

Not-to-do list for job interviewees

Not-to-do list for job interviewees | Interview Advice & Tips | Scoop.it
It’s a tough job market out there, and experts counsel that to-do lists compiled by educational institutions and employment agencies can give job seekers a key boost in composing winning resumes and delivering virtuoso job interview...
Trish Sadar's insight:

Nice reminders in this Not-to-do list for interviews.

Please don't talk poorly about your current or past employer or boss.  Doing that is a quick way to get in the TBNT pile.  (Thanks but no thanks)

Don't arrive late to the interview.  It definitely puts a red flag up for the interviewer.  Not to mention that most interviewers have back to back meetings.  Arriving late may impact the amount of time you have during the interview.

Body Langauge:  Absolutely please be aware of the body language you have prior, during, and after the interview.  Remember all eyes are on you once you drive into the parking lot.  Be nice and considerate to everyone.

Trish Sadar's insight:

The goal of preparation is to focus on preparing yourself to walk into the interview feeling confident and prepared.  That way you can be yourself and focus on connecting and listening to the interviewer to demonstrate interest.

Asking the person who is scheduling your interview questions such as could you share with me how many people will be there during the interview, or could you share with me what to expect during the interview, or could you share with me what type of interview I should prepare for.

Letting them know that this position is important to you, and you want to make sure that you do your homework.

With critical thinking interview questions...it is the thought process, problem solving steps, and judgment used to form a conclusion that we are typically looking for.

Trish Sadar's insight:

Excellent tips in the article!  OK -- my philosphy on a few:

Knowing why you should be hired....if you don't know why you are the best candidate how will the interviewer?

The entrance:  are you making a great first impression from head to toe?

The conversation:  Are you concentrating on connecting and active listening with the interviewer?

Preparation:  Have you prepared as you would for a final exam?  If you had, then you would be able to walk into the interview confident and ready for your authentic personality to shine through.
