You can now share PowerPoint slides as photos and videos | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

Microsoft has released Social Share, a free plug-in for PowerPoint that lets you share your slides to Facebook and Twitter as images or video.

The tool lets you share individual slides as images and your entire presentation as a photo album.

If you like, you can package your entire deck as a video. This keeps your transitions and other animations intact.

The plug-in also adds a pane to PowerPoint, where you can see comments people leave on your shared presentations without leaving the app....

How to Design an Awesome Presentation (Even if You’re Not a Designer) | Design Shack | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

The problem with presentation design is often more about time than actual design. But you must take time in crafting stellar presentations. This might include building a template that you use for presentations or honing in your public speaking skills.

Here, we’ll walk through a few ways to design a great presentation that will engage your audience. (While most of these tips are structured around creating a digital presentation, using software such as PowerPoint, the concepts can also be applied to posterboard style presentations as well.)

Keep in mind that all of the images in this presentation are sample templates found within Graphic River. If there are any slides that capture your imagination you can click on the image to be taken to the full template where you can download it through Graphic River. To Be a Great Public Speaker, "KISS" and Tell

To Be a Great Public Speaker, "KISS" and Tell | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it

If the thought of speaking in front of a crowd makes you uneasy, you're not alone. According to a study by Chapman University, public speaking is the number one fear in America -- followed closely by heights and then by bugs, snakes, and other animals. (Strangely enough, Americans are more afraid of zombies than we are of clowns or ghosts ... but that's a blog post for another day.)

If you're anxious about public speaking, the worst thing you can do is nothing at all. There are ways to become a better public speaker, but like most rewarding things in life, they don't come easy. Becoming a good public speaker takes hard work and patience.

Thanks to the internet, there are plenty of resources out there to help you conquer your fear -- including the infographic below from the London Speaking Bureau. Check it out to learn what "kissing" has to do with preparing a speech, best practices for delivery, and strategies for making a lasting impact on your audience....

Nice info. I write for an MLM magazine and I'm going to spin this as a series. MLM'ers typically sit back and let their companies do everything for them (i.e. on the manner of tools). But in fact, most MLM company's tools suck BIG time.

They talk a lot about being hi-tech but very few are in the marketing sense. The big money earners are the ones who are pro-active and build their own systems. This info is stuff they could use. Most of them have no idea the incredible bounty of free-stuff that's out there.

Bad News for PowerPoint Users | Eric Bergman

Bad News for PowerPoint Users | Eric Bergman | Public Relations & Social Marketing Insight | Scoop.it
Researchers at Purdue University have some bad news for the 40 million people worldwide who deliver “standard” PowerPoint presentations each and every day.

When PowerPoint is used, the researchers concluded, the audience retains nearly 30 per cent less than if presenters eliminate PowerPoint and simply talk to their audience.

In other words, by simply turning off your projector and using your slides as notes, you can significantly enhance your communication effectiveness.

"Students who weren’t exposed to PowerPoint scored 29 per cent higher on the quiz in recalling oral information, and achieved higher overall scores with the recall of all information. “The presence of PowerPoint negatively affected the recall of auditory information,” the researchers concluded, adding that “graphic scores reveal there was no notable gain when using PowerPoint to display graphic information. Wideo is a neat service for creating animated, Common Craft style videos in your web browser. I've been using and talking about the service for a couple of years now. Recently, Wideo added a new feature that allows you to generate presentations from your videos.

When you create a video in Wideo you do so by dragging and dropping clipart and text in storyboard frames. You set the position and animation sequence for each element in each storyboard frame. When you have completed your storyboards Wideo generates a video for you. The new presentation mode in Wideo will allow you to present each frame of your video independently just like in a slideshow....

Let’s take a step back and consider how people actually learn from a speech. A few years ago, a research team led by Stephen Kosslyn and composed of experts from three universities studied how presenters could improve their public speaking.

They discovered three steps that must occur to make your presentation memorable:

1. Information needs to be Acquired

2. Information needs to be Processed

3. Information needs to be Connected to Knowledge

If there is any disconnect with these steps your presentation will fall flat. Let’s look at each of these steps and come up with some ideas to help you connect with your audience in a lasting and memorable way....
