Tomas Navarro - True Hologram

True Hologram is a lens-based and self-invented device that projects a photorealistic volume in a column of cold mist. The device gathers DIY methodologies, smart/affordable approaches to 3d imaginery and re-adapted technology in order to achieve a 3D display using light, lenses and photographic transparencies. True Hologram is an artistic and intuitive advance of futuristic cinematic outcomes. The research has been executed as an artistic, intuitive investigation about futuristic screening devices, working exclusively with self-invented methodologies.

[VIDEO] 3D Holographic Fashion Show

About the project:
The question was how to communicate the philosophy behind the new collection of German "Haute Couture" fashion designer Stefan Eckert in a better way. The answer was the world's first complete 3D holographic fashion show. I teamed up with director Florian Sigl to create the visual concept for the show and how to express the collection within this special medium as best as possible. After getting the footage from the great film production team, I did all stages of post production, from 3D to motion graphics to compositing.
The result was one of the biggest holographic projections ever which creates a complete optical illusion and breaks the rules of time and space on stage.

Physicist Brian Greene explains how properties at the black hole’s surface—its event horizon—suggest the unsettling theory that our world is a mere representation of another universe, a shadow of the realm where real events take place.

Universal Illusion? Juan Maldacena's holographic universe

Universal Illusion? Juan Maldacena's holographic universe | Science News | Scoop.it

To make things clear - Maldacena's universe is not like the one we actually live in! It's a model, a toy universe, which comes complete with its own physics. It's a hologram because all the physical goings-on inside it can be described by a physical theory that's only defined on the boundary. What's more, it's a universe in which the gravity/quantum conundrum has been resolved completely: the boundary theory is purely quantum, it contains no gravity, but a being living in the interior will still experience gravity. Gravity in this universe is part of the holographic illusion.

"Holographic WALL-E" using Kinect SDK and Windows Phone

"After my holographic terminator, my daughter asked me to build a robot for her. The result is shown in this video. It's real fun controlling Wall-E in the background using your phone while the child is interacting with the robot :-). I'm hoping the same technique could be used for example in therapy with kids that have trouble communicating with people. If anybody knows of a good use, please let me know in the comments or send me a message!"

The Holographic Mind

The Holographic Mind | Science News | Scoop.it

Pribram’s holographic theory is a belief that each piece of an object contains the pattern for the entire object. Pribram showed that portions of the brain work in the same fashion. He found, for instance, the vision in rats seems to be processed holographically. With more than 90 percent of their optic nerves severed, rats can still see.
