CrowdFunde Name Change Poll: VOTE NOW VIA @CrowdFunde | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Startup Life
The startup life is one of equal parts hard work and serendipity. As we began to build, think about and share the tool we saw in December it morphed and moved on by. Below the poll is an explanation about why we got to the point where a name change is needed:

Creating CrowdFunde's New Logo - Crowdfunde

Creating CrowdFunde's New Logo - Crowdfunde | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

Creating CrowdFunde's new logo includes our rough drafts along with a short description of why the graphic design ended up where it did.

As I share in this post about the process of creating a logo any graphical communication should lead, follow or get out of the way (lol). In this case WTE.net's designer Rachelle Leath suggested something I didn't see - she made Funde green.

That may seem like a small thing, but it isn't. I've been working on this logo for months and felt like I had it close. I needed another pair of eyes, a pro graphic designer to supplement my amateur efforts (lol).l

Once I saw Funde i green my immediate reaction was, "That tells a better story". Every element needs to tell a story especially a logo. Sometimes I have the logo creation story all worked out. Not this time.

This time I had a good design, but I missed Rachelle's idea to emphasize CROWD and Funde. This emphasis helps tell CrowdFunde's brand story. The positioning of crowdsourcing and content marketing FUNDED by crowds is easier to SEE now. This new logo begins to tell that story right off.

When you create a hook like Funde in green the minute you explain it your visitors will have a V8 moment. They will smack their head and your story and graphic will feel easy, understandable and fun.

Great job by Rachelle and WTE team helping to create a new CrowdFunde logo. Now our job, as the marketing team, is to craft a brand story consistent with the new logo. I like to write a short story ABOUT the logo. Why?

A good logo prompts curiosity, so answer the unstated but prevalent question of why we crafted the logo the way we did provides another brand positioning and storytelling opportunity.

Startups Share Pivot Or Persevere Stories & Join CrowdFunde Buzz Team -

Startups Share Pivot Or Persevere Stories & Join CrowdFunde Buzz Team - | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it
Hardest thing any startup entrepreneur does is decide to pivot or persevere. Share your pivot or persevere stories & Join CrowdFunde buzz team.
Martin (Marty) Smith's insight:

My Pivot or Persevere Story

Last year I created one of the first crowdfunding cancer research websites (http://www.curecancerstarter.org) A project near and dear to my heart. I am a cancer survivor.

The site is a partnership between me, Atlantic BT and 4 great cancer research centers. As hard as this realization was to face I became an anchor slowing progress down.

I was too passionate and connected. Thinking about CANCER everyday all day was getting HARD too. I faced a pivot or persevere moment. I decided the BEST course for CureCancerStarter.org was for me to do something else.

They may need to pivot several times, but removing my hand on the tiller meant they would step up and own the platform. I had to fire myself from something I loved for it to survive and flourish. OUCH!

As we begin our next journey creating CrowdFunde, a corwdfunding platform to help enterprise customers, investors, donors and shoppers, we hope you will SHARE your pivot or persevere stories and JOIN our CrowdFunde Buzz Team.

CrowdFunde Beta Design First Views

CrowdFunde Beta Design First Views | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

CrowdFunde's mission is support investors, donors and shoppers by merchandising crowdfunding based on cool algorithms YOU set. Based on our incubator investor meeting today may remain a DREAM, but something will work out since the content is too cool and valuable to remain "haystacked" for much longer.

One cool trick is the algorithms that control what gets shown where have two modes DEFAULT and FRIENDS. When Facebook is linked to a profile algorithms go into "friends mode" showing what your friends and friends of friends like with the ability to toggle back to defaults.

That little trick is cool enough I might have to fund development. Heck I might have to regardless (lol). Marty

Is Crowdfunding About To Blow Up? A: Yes!

Is Crowdfunding About To Blow Up? A: Yes! | Startup Revolution | Scoop.it

November SEC ruling makes crowfunding stocks closer and the ruling changed the game:

"The law changes the landscape," said Shmerling, InCrowd's chief executive officer.

Federal lawmakers included crowdfunding in the 2012 Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act as a way to ease financing to small businesses. The SEC's proposed rules will be open 90 days for public comment.

While companies will be capped at raising $1 million per year through equity crowdfunding, Shmerling said it's an option for startups looking to raise under $100,000 to create an initial concept, prototype or business model.
