ACMI: Education is the primary source that I had used to develop my mini-unit plan. This resource, in particular, influenced how I constructed my mini-unit plan around English and the Media. This source gave insight into how I could redefine English studies, making it more relevant and engaging to students of the 21st century. From this resource, I was also able to understand how English studies could reach the redefinition level of the SAMR model, which, in turn, generated various ideas.

Progress Report: Connecting K-12 Students to the Web

Progress Report: Connecting K-12 Students to the Web | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it
The State of Connectivity in America’s Public Schools. In the 2017 State of the States, national non-profit EducationSuperHighway, highlights progress in connecting public schools across the U.S. to high-speed broadband.

Via Becky Roehrs
Becky Roehrs's curator insight, September 28, 2017 10:25 AM

Lots of Good news:

  • "Over 1 million students in 113 school districts
meet the minimum recommended bandwidth goal.
  • Governors have allocated nearly $200 million in matching funds to take advantage of E-rate modernization to help connect the schools that are hardest to reach:"

Still some Bad news:

  • "6.5 million students need to be connected
  • 2,049 schools still lack high-speed fiber connections and 77 percent of those are in rural communities"

10 Reasons High Schools Students Say They Prefer Learning Online | Education 2.0 & 3.0 | Scoop.it

Lisa Nielsen:

Ever wonder how students feel about learning online? At the recent iNacol Virtual Schools Symposium participants were treated to an experience that is surprisingly is rarely available at education conferences. We had the opportunity to hear directly from a panel of students who explained why they preferred learning online. Here are some of the reasons shared by these students and others I heard from explaining why students preferred this method of learning.
